The Louisville Division serves eleven counties. Those are Breckinridge, Bullitt, Hardin, Jefferson, Larue, Marion, Meade, Nelson, Oldham, Spencer, and Washington.

What is the same everywhere we file
Kentucky lets filers choose the federal exemption list instead of the state list. That choice matters a great deal here.
The Kentucky homestead exemption protects $5,000 of home equity. The federal homestead exemption protects $31,575, and $63,150 for a married couple filing together. Those federal figures apply to cases filed between April 1, 2025 and March 31, 2028.

What changes from county to county
Foreclosure does not run through the bankruptcy court. It runs through your county circuit court, and each county handles its own sales.
Jefferson County commissioner sales are held at the Louis D. Brandeis Hall of Justice, District Courtroom 102, 600 West Jefferson Street. Oldham County sales are advertised in the Oldham Era and posted at the county courthouse in La Grange. Nelson County matters run through the Nelson County Justice Center at 200 Nelson County Plaza in Bardstown.
